Feels like royalty

Funny how I’m no longer used to having all the time to myself. Until now I always felt like I’m supposed to be busy about something. But heyyyy! It’s vacayy already! Guess I’m still having some aftershocks. ☺ Anyhoo, here’s my third set for our shoot with Sassy Pink! ♥

I’m wearing here a classy royal blue dress. The dress can stand on its own if you prefer to look prim and proper. But because I want to add some quirkiness to my look, I added a chunky necklace and some other vibrant colored accessories.

I’ve always loved the royal blue color. It’s sure to flatter almost all skin tones and can look great combined with other colors. I find it very versatile even though it’s not really a neutral color. It’ll never fail to add some sophistication and luxury to your look.

Cutouts are I think the coolest way to design a dress as of now. They used to be just for night outs but now all fashion enthusiasts are rocking them casually. These cutouts can be across the bodice, peek-a-boo side cutouts or my favorite, open-back cutouts. That’s why I love this dress!! The color and style was of course a yes. But what really got me is this heart cutout at the back. So adorable! ☺

My heart is swelling with happiness for I can already enjoy 18 days of summer vacation. No studying, no more waking up early in the morning and no more staying up late at night doing school works. But aside from that, another reason why I’m giddily glad are these items that I recently got.

I bought these bags maybe three weeks ago? Yes, I bought all of them in one day! (LOL). In that week, I bought 4 bags all in all. It all started with this Balenciaga bag I’m using here. I bought it from a thrift shop on sale. And as an avid thrift shopper, I know that every time there’s a sale, the prices gets lower every day. I came back after 2 days and I was able to bought all of these for only 300 pesos!! ☺

La la la ♪♫. 4 days to go before my summer classes end. But right now, I’m a bit caught up studying for my final examinations. However, I decided to take a break and squeeze my time into doing what I love. I’ll only make this quick though. ☺

This is again another entry that took me forever to post. My hair’s still longer so you would know. Together with my A-fash girls, we pulled off the hippie style. I was a bit uninspired to dress up at first because what I had in mind that I’d like to wear are short boho dresses or a pair of shorts plus a fringed top. But since I was entering our school premises, I don’t think the security guard will be happy about me entering the campus. ☺

But then, I realized it’s a style that isn’t really hard. Hippie as you know it means anti-war, pro-peace and anti-materialist. This style is very much similar also with the boho style. The latter allows a fun mix of prints and piling on of pieces. Both of these styles exhibit free idealistic thinking that’s why anyone can pull them off.

I had a loose top + loose trousers + feather earrings + a headband worn horizontally and I’m good to go for my free spirited hippie look! ☺

Shop 'til you drop wisely

A lot of people are asking me where I usually shop and how come I find the greatest deals. Well, I have here some tips on how you can accomplish your shopping list the right way. ☺

I know. I know. There’s always that temptation to spend more. But will you still be happy if you exceed your credit card limit and you’re drowning in debt? I’m sure you don’t and when that happens shopping will be out of the picture. Besides, it’s not the end of the world! You can still shop next week or next month. I always tell that to myself whenever I’m pretty much out of control. And personally, I always have this maintaining balance that keeps me disciplined. When I reached it, there’s no way I’m buying more.

This is really something a shopper must take note all the time. The quality of what you buy is highly important. What’s the use of hoarding cheap items when you end up wearing them only once or worst, not at all because it gave up on you easily? As for me, because I’m a thrift shopper, I always make a thorough inspection of something before I buy it. Good quality items age well. You do not pay for the design alone but the longevity as well.

Doing this is a big NO! I think this is one root of all shopping evil (LOL). Doing this can result to buying things that you’ll probably regret. It can be because it doesn’t fit well or it’s something that doesn’t suit you. This happens mostly when there’s huge sales. Everything is so affordable that people tend to buy things that they don’t really need. They develop the mentality that it’s okay if it doesn’t turn out good since they didn’t spend that much anyway. Well, we’re talking about shopping wisely and wrong buys do add up of course. Remember that you always have to keep in mind your personal style and limitations. ☺

Let’s say you bought a pair of shoes that cost you 2,000 pesos. Yes, a bit pricey but if it stayed with you for years without giving up, then it comes out cheap every time you wear it. I remembered what one make-up artist said, she’s using a mascara that costs around 1,800. It’s pretty expensive but it can last for 2 years. So divided by 730 days, it will only cost you approximately 2 pesos and 43 cents a day! (LOL). How good is that? ☺

Come back after a couple days to check for new arrivals and further mark downs on sale items. Especially in the case of thrift shops, the price gets lesser every day when it’s sale, or after a couple of weeks in the case of new arrivals. But if you see something you really like, go ahead! Because it might not be there anymore the next time you visit and it’ll suck big time.

Rule : If it doesn’t fit, don’t buy it! But sadly, it’s still not followed by many. Yes, maybe the design and style had you but then if it doesn’t fit well or it doesn’t suit you, you shouldn’t buy it. I always apply the comfort before style rule. I always see to it that it fits well, it doesn’t itch, it complements my complexion and the like. Always take note that if it’s not for you, don’t push through with it. Keep in mind that new styles come all the time. ☺

Everything you see may have a potential! What looks questionable on the rack may actually look good once you try it on. And it can also go with the opposite of course. Sometimes it looks good but not until you try it on. But what I’m saying is, never hesitate to try lots of things. Never rely on what you see on the mannequin! ☺

Of course it’s always nice when you have a friend that accompanies you when you’re shopping. It’s great when there’s someone you can consult but learn also to judge items for yourself. This way, you can stay true to your style. I believe that there can still be peer pressure in shopping you know! I personally love shopping alone. It’s kind of like my therapy and one of the best me-times.

Always explore other stores and venture out of your comfort zone to discover new things. This way, you’ll avoid those instances when you spot a less expensive and better item after you’ve already bought something else. For me, when it comes to hunting for great style, where I shop is never an issue. I was really never into thrift shopping before. But when I found out about it, it felt like I had gone to bargain heaven! And from that day on, I was always into finding great deals. ☺

From something edgy, let’s go to something dainty and feminine for my second set during our shoot for Sassy Pink’s newest collection. I went for a printed dress and punched it up by a ladylike skirt.

I love lightweight cotton dresses like this because you can wear it on casual days. And because of the soft and thin fabric, you can style it in so many ways! You’re not confined into wearing the dress alone because you can pair it with pants, shorts, skirts and other kinds of bottoms. Don’t be scared of trying on lots of things at one go because this is the best way for you to mix and match unexpected combinations right then and there.

Besides, details is the key. Whether it be tie-dyed prints, graphic tees or a glamorous pair of heels, details are what keeps you safely off the bandwagon. Don’t forget to stock up on colorful prints too! They always add a youthful vibe to any outfit, brightens up your mood and even enhances complexion. These are everyday pieces that add extra ooomph to any staid wardrobe.

Maybe you have observed that I update my blog every other day whenever I can post frequently. But since I’m busy with summer classes as of the moment, I’m thinking of posting twice during the weekends. How’s that?☺

A month ago, The 16th Street Boutique sent me these mint green lace bracelet and ear cap. I’ve always loved this color among other pastel hues. After I receive these items, I was inspired to wear it along with my mint green skirt for that really feminine vibe given that the bracelet was lace anyway. But I changed my mind and decided to be more playful with my outfit.

I made my outfit from this neon skirt. To avoid looking over the top and make my look put together, I settled for colors that exist in my skirt. This skirt was a really great find! Something exactly like this is available at a popular mall here in our place but being a great find lookie like me, I was able to get this downtown for a much lower price.

Aside from that, another great find in this ensemble is my bag! It’s Balenciaga!!! One of the reasons why I really love thrift shopping is that I can find authentic branded items. I’ve always had a thing about signature bags and shoes. I mean, tell me a girl who doesn’t.

After a very looooong stressful week, I’m back! I just finished my midterm examinations yesterday. Technically, it wasn’t a hell week since the exam took place for only a single day unlike in regular semesters. But it feels like hell anyway since I’m studying everyday and this blog has become the least of my priorities. I’m just glad it’s over!

So let’s proceed with what this post is mainly about, shall we? Our fellow A-fash sissy Jamie had a project for their Print Advertising subject. They were tasked to make a magazine and a print ad wherein she chose Sassy Pink Shoppe as a subject. And since A-fash are loyal Sassy girls, the content of their project says something about our collaboration with the shop as well.

I had 5 sets all in all. And as indicated above, what I’m wearing here’s my favorite one. It’s edgy and girly combined that’s why it’s so me. The peplum top, the studs and the crochet shorts spells love for me. I love everything about this outfit! This is also the shoot that I’m referring to in my post here that has caused me a change of heart in wearing boots. ☺

Sorry if it takes me a week before I can give you new posts. As usual, I have my acads that’s taking most of my time. I’ll try my best to post at least twice a week. But if I can’t, let’s just settle for one in the mean time? ☺ And obviously, this is one of my backlogs. My hair gives it away. I wore this to a free day/movie day with my friend, Anjo. We watched the romantic fantasy film Beautiful Creatures so you can say this was about 2 months ago? The movie’s definitely one of the best I’ve seen this year so far. I’m such a hopeless romantic that I find it hard to get over from fictional stories with this kind of genre especially when it comes in a reading material. #bookworm

Anyway, let’s talk about my outfit. It’s a free day so I took the opportunity of having the freedom on what I can wear. I’m wearing shorts and my top has cutout peek-a-boos at the back. A definite no no for school but just appropriate for laid back days. Nothing can beat shorts as my favorite piece of clothing when it comes to bottoms.

The Animal Face trend

A-fash are in this season’s trendiest animal faces theme! Animal prints is as classic to fashion as those little black dresses but this time it has nothing to do with mere prints alone. Instead, animal illustrations can be seen snuggled into shirts, shorts and even across bags. This trend can go a long way because these are one of those trends that can be easily adopted by the high street. Not only fashionistas can rock that cute leopard shirt now!

I personally love this trend because for me it’s all about happiness. Animal faces are so fun and entertaining. And how cool is that when you can wear your favorite animals? :)

Anyhoo, in this outfit, I went for country style. It’s the first time that I’ve actually tried this style. Maybe with a guitar I’m all good, don’t you think?☺ And wearing a boots on an ordinary day (photo shoots are exempted) was another first. If you’ve seen my interview for Candymag.com’s style files here, what I said that I will never ever wear are boots. Oh, can I take it back pleeeeasse? You know when I was a kid, my mom used to let me wear boots but I really hated it back then. I don’t know. It just won’t do for me. And I guess I grew up thinking until now that it doesn’t suit me. I had a change of heart when I had a shoot for Sassy Pink and I wore a pair of boots for some of my outfits. And since that day, I knew it wouldn’t be the last time I’ll be wearing them. ☺

Wakeboarding : A newfound hobby

Just recently, my family and I went to Camarines Sur Watersports Complex (CWC) for a summer get together with my relatives who came from Manila. I went there several times already doing the usual stuff -swimming. The place is very famous because of wakeboarding as I’ve said in my post last year. I don’t know why I never came to try it until now. Maybe it has something to do with the ample amount of boring genes I have before (LOL). Yes, I’m not the game for anything kind of girl way back then. If I think I can’t do something, no one can push me. But I had a change of heart. Now I always look forward to the things that I can do where I can conquer my fears. You only live once and you might as well enjoy everything while you’re still young! ☺

So in our stay there, I gave wakeboarding a try (Finally!). I’m not saying that doing it is a biggie of recklessness but it still gives you that adrenaline rush which I tend to avoid before. Since it was my first time, I’m still in the beginner area. I had sooooo much fun!! This is indeed a newfound hobby ‘cause I’ll definitely come back to try this again and again. ☺

I’m not only thrilled with new things that I was able to do but also with new foods that I was able to try. Say this Pizza for instance. It’s a Bicol-Laing Pizza which is available in CWC alone. I don’t really eat Laing but this Pizza was so good!! It’s a great way to end the day after being exhausted from wakeboarding. My arms and back suffered for the next 2 days but it was definitely worth it! ☺

Did you participate in the “Everything 50% off” Penshoppe offered last month? I hope you did because you totally missed out a lot if you didn’t!! You will get half the price for the regular items and get an additional 30% off for those items that are on sale! Say this top for instance. This was around Php600+ as I can remember and I got it for only Php270! What a nice deal! I’ve been eyeing this for quite some time now. You know how much of a sucker I am when it comes to unique prints. The moment I laid my eyes on this top, I knew I got to have it.

And my hair just made its debut on my blog! I had my hair cut shorter and changed my hair color to Chesmine Red. At times, I do miss my very long hair. But cutting it was the best thing I can do to bring back my healthy hair. Sometimes what we want isn’t always the right thing for us, right? *cough cough* (LOL). Besides, my friends said this short hair suits me and I looked even younger. How about you? What do you think? ☺

Nothing gets better than going out on a Summer day wearing a cool tank top and ripped shorts. These two are my typical summer outfits when I’m not stuck in my summer classes. The season also inspires me to be all playful and summery by infusing a lot of colors in this ensemble. I was totally having fun because I really love bright colors. Okay, I love colors. Period. ☺

Geometry and shapes was another theme I had with my A-fash sisters. I was thinking twice of joining our shoot at first because I’ve got nothing to wear and it was a pretty busy day for me as well. Fortunately, I found this hexagon printed dress in my closet! I already forgot I have it. And just when I got lucky that this was a dress. There’s no need to mix and match. Dresses are really great for effortless, throw-on-and-go looks. It’s just what I needed for a hassle day.

Hi J! Thank you so much for that wonderful message! I’m really flattered ♥
Yes, our course is really difficult. We need to devote a lot of our time and attention. But it’s all about how you balance everything. I’m a hundred percent focused with my studies when I’m in school but every week, I make sure I still have time for myself and that’s really important. Think of the things that you love to do and make time for it despite the heavy, school related workloads. As for me, I blog around 3 times a week, I go out with my friends during weekends and I buy something for myself. It can be my favorite food or a nice pair of shoes and the like. Reward yourself once in a while and it will make you feel good. As to how I look stress-free in my photos, well I won’t deny that I use a minimal amount of make-up. But without it, what’s left is how I feel good about myself. It’s really important because if you feel good on the inside, you will look good on the outside as well. Give yourself a break and do the things that you love though how busy you are. Always be confident and don’t forget to smile! ☺

Must haves this summer

Summer is upon us, and it is high time you revise your closet with some of these summer must haves. I have here 5 different outfits that can help you with your fashion dilemmas this season. It doesn’t matter whether you’re heading to a far away beach, stuck on your summer classes at school, going out with your girlfriends or attending an event ‘cause I’ve got it all covered. Florencia Brunetto, fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar Argentina said,“This season is all about the prints and appliqués – that goes for all items of clothing from top to toe, and not least for swimwear. Optical flowers and jungle prints are predominant.”

Think nautical stripes and you can’t go wrong this year. That’s another hit aside from tropical flowers and animal prints on your swim wear. But aside from the prints, vintage-style has a place among this year’s swim wear trends. It’s a subtle infusion of vintage cuts and prints. Most often, this season is about high waisted bikini bottoms as a way to inject a slight vintage feel into otherwise modern swim wear.

Some features to look out for:

-high-waist bottoms
-fuller-cupped tops
-playful prints
-one-pieces with cinched-in waists, sweetheart necklines and halters
-conversely, vintage cuts executed with modern digital prints
-shirred sides that accentuate the waist and hips
-boy-legged bottoms

Now for another must have - tank tops!! These make great choices for people who are looking for comfort and functionality, especially during this season where a cool clothing option is necessary. The less clothing you wear…the better chance you have at comfort. There has been a resurgence lately in the trendiness of the tank top which come in all shapes, styles, and sizes. Then of course, you won’t forget your sunnies, right? This year, the sunnies’ design are replaced by a model of geometric shapes, butterfly and cat’s eye sunglasses. Trends of the season are also big round glasses, and an unusual form of lenses and frames. Some of the materials used for frames of women’s sunglass in the new season is plastic of various colors, including the one with animal pattern, metal and transparent frames. It can be made girly, edgy, or fancy with just a change of the top and a few accessories.

This season calls for light and airy clothes in cool colors. As mentioned earlier, this summer brings some of the hottest trends and it’s all about florals. Botanical prints are huge this summer in jewelry, handbags, shorts, jumpsuits, maxi dresses, and skirts. Floral print trend is feminine yet bold and colorful and there are many ways to add this trend to any woman’s wardrobe. You can transform a floral from day to evening by adding a blazer. Try a leather or denim jacket if you want it edgy. Accessories such as bold statement jewelry, strappy heels or wedges make a good choice depending on the look you are going for.

Like I said earlier when the heat gets too unbearable, the less clothing you wear…the better chance you have at comfort. Aside from tank tops, cropped tops can give you that. You should also take note of the colors you’re wearing. As much as possible, you should be in refreshing and light colors. Light colors reflect the light while if you wear dark ones, the light will go in. It’s actually a science thing and I’m sure you know all about it. ☺

Now if you’re going on a night out or attending an event, this is a cute, totally wearable summer outfit that will brighten up your carefree summer day and spice up that summer night. When it comes to summer dressing especially for evening events, most people settles on a less-is-more policy that might leave them feeling cool, but not looking stylish. Indeed, the temperature and humidity levels are spiking, but that doesn’t mean you should throw on an overly revealing ensemble or worse, a very lame outfit.
